ODS - OPERATIONAL DEFLECTION SHAPES Structural resonance is one of the most common problems affecting component failure in rotating machinery. Resonance occurs as a result of the interaction of rotational forces exciting natural structural modes. An Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) is the easiest way to actually see how a machine or structure moves during its operation. Below is an ODS taken on a Longwall tail drive while being tested at the repair facility, under no load. A future inspection will be completed underground with loaded conditions. All points are related to the motor rpm. Click below and start the video. For additional information please E-mail me with questions or comments. |
